“Fight for God’s promise?” At first glance, that doesn’t seem right…
Why should anyone have to fight for something that was promised? Especially if it’s from God.
While that statement seems strange, the Bible shows that a fight you could be avoiding may be what’s keeping you from God’s blessings.
Consider the land God promised to the Israelites. Yes, the one described as “flowing with milk and honey”.
When God led the Israelites to it, it was occupied by a wicked group of people.
God said, “Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites” (Numbers 13:2 NIV).
Although God said he was giving it to the Israelites, he wanted them to send spies as a first step before going into battle for it.
But most of the Israelites were afraid. Forgetting all that God brought them through, they didn’t believe they could do it.
And that avoidance of a battle kept them from receiving God’s promise for 40 years.
Now think about your life and the dreams and visions God gave you. Could there be a fight between you and it?
Like the Israelites, maybe you started to look into what God placed on your heart, but the potential obstacles stopped you.
Know that the fight doesn’t mean it isn’t God’s will. It could be His way of getting the glory for bringing you through.
The Wise Believer doesn’t avoid the fight; they trust God and do what’s necessary to get what He promised them.
