Why is it that many trust in God, but don’t experience the best life He desires for them?
One reason is simple. Just having faith is not enough. Receiving many of the things that God promised requires something else.
And what’s that something else? It’s taking action.
Now, just to be clear, this isn’t about earning God’s promises, but doing what’s required to walk in them.
The Book of James states it plainly, “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead” (James 2:17 NIV).
No matter how much you believe God can do something in your life, chances are there is something you have to do to make it a reality.
Consider the Israelites and God’s promise of a land flowing with milk and honey. Even though God told them He was giving them the land, they had to fight to take it.
Similarly, there was a man called Naaman. He had leprosy, and a prophet told him to wash seven times in a river to be healed. He almost didn’t do it because he believed the prophet should have just spoken a word to make him better.
And as you likely know, to many of the people Jesus healed, he said, your faith has made you well in response to some action they took.
So, is there something you are believing God for but have not taken any action?
Like Abraham, God may have told you start moving without a specific destination, and only when you do, will He start opening doors. Yes, it’s scary. Maybe you stepped out once, and like Peter, fear crept in, and you began to sink.
Take the step anyway.
The wise believer doesn’t only believe and pray, but takes action, trusting God to show the way.
