Have you ever wondered why some Christians see lasting fruit, while others don’t? Two may start in the same place, yet one goes on to have more money, time, and energy to give, while the other remains the same or struggles.
While there are a few possible reasons, one within our control is a biblical truth that’s often overlooked. It’s the principle of sowing and reaping.
Now you might be thinking, “I’m consistently giving money in church, yet my life isn’t all that better…” While giving tithes and offerings plays a role, the truth of sowing and reaping is much bigger than that.
Let’s use time as an example. Think of each hour as a seed that everyone gets the same amount of each day.
If some of that time is spent learning a new skill, being with others, and exercising, it’s like a seed planted or nurtured that will eventually bring the fruit of opportunity, strong relationships, and good health. On the other hand, if all of that time is wasted, consuming rather than producing, there is no return.
Similarly, regarding our spiritual life, the Bible states it plainly:
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life” (Galatians 6:7-8 NIV).
A part of what your life is today is the result of the seeds you’ve planted. Want a more fruitful life tomorrow? Start planting the right seeds today.
The wise believer doesn’t just hope for a better future; they plant for one.
