Have you ever wished that God proved He was real?
Imagine if, in the middle of the day, you could ask for a sign, and out of thin air, Jesus appeared, saying, “Here am I.”
Would you do it? Most people would, and there’s no shaming in that.
But getting absolute proof, while amazing, actually has a cost.
Jesus pointed it out in what he said to Thomas after his resurrection.
For context, the other disciples told Thomas that they had seen Jesus alive, but Thomas doubted.
“Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe,” Thomas said. (John 20:25 NIV).
Then, appearing to him, Jesus said, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed”. (John 20:29 NIV)
To the person who doesn’t get proof yet has faith in Jesus, a special blessing is reserved. On the day he reveals himself to all, you get to proudly say I trusted all along.
So, again I ask. If you could ask God for a sign and he could instantly appear to you, would you do it?
The Wise Believer continues in faith without seeking hard evidence, because in the end, they know it will be a greater blessing.
