Yes. You’ve reached a point where it feels like it won’t work out. You took action, prayed, sought advice, and still you don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel.
God already knew you might get to this point. He made sure that His Word included many examples of people just like you who persisted and succeeded when all seemed lost.
Consider the woman with the issue of blood; twelve years of suffering. She spent all her money going from doctor to doctor, but nothing changed. What if she concluded that she’d never be healed before Jesus appeared?
Then there is the Canaanite woman. Imagine if she accepted Jesus’ silence, followed by his suggestion that she didn’t qualify. She would not have received deliverance for her daughter.
And if those real stories aren’t enough, Jesus shared the parable of the persistent widow to explicitly teach us that we should always pray and not give up (Luke 18:1).
Now you might be thinking, that sounds good and all, but surely there comes a point where people should give up? Doesn’t Ecclesiastes 3 say “there is a time for everything…a time to search and a time to give up”?
But can you objectively say it’s time, or is it the emotions that are overwhelming? There’s a difference between quitting because you’re discouraged and surrendering because God is redirecting you.
You may not feel sure, but God’s Word shows that breakthroughs can be right at the door. Sometimes it’s timing. Sometimes it’s just one revelation or perspective shift that will help everything fall into place.
Don’t quit out of fear. If you must, let it be out of obedience.
The wise believer doesn’t let seasons of doubt derail them, but takes encouragement from God’s Word and keeps going.
