They Will Always Have Something To Say

Recently, I was reading Luke 7 and was reminded of a lesson that’ll reduce your stress if accepted.

It’s the part where Jesus contrasted himself with John the Baptist in verses 33-34.

He said:

For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ (NIV)

The religious leaders made accusations against both John the Baptist and Jesus despite them doing things differently.

It’s a reminder that no matter what you do, there will be people who’ll have something negative to say.

Given this reality, why stress trying to please everyone?

If you think about it, it’s much easier to please God, who has made his desires clear in His Word, than to please the world.

What’s more, pleasing God has a far greater benefit.

There is an illustration I shared a while back. It’s one picture that says it all. Take a look below and smile.

The Wise Believer accepts this truth and stresses less because they do.
