Have you ever found yourself saying, “When I get this or that, I’ll start”?
We all want to achieve certain things, but often think we don’t have everything we need.
Take creating YouTube videos, for instance. A person may imagine they need fancy cameras and lighting when, in fact, God has already blessed them with a cell phone and sunlight.
Speaking of using what you already have to earn money, the late Pastor Myles Munroe once said: “Bake cookies in your home oven to sell, rent out the extra room in your house, and use your car to take elderly people for a drive”.
When you take a closer look, you’d be amazed at how many resources you are blessed with.
The Bible addresses this, too. Once, Jesus observed a poor widow give two very small copper coins. In response, He then told His disciples:
“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on” (Mark 12:43-44 NIV).
The widow could have easily said to herself, “When I have enough money, I’ll start giving”. But though relatively small, from God’s perspective, she gave the most.
Then, as you likely know, there is The Parable of The Talents. The servant given one talent did nothing with it because of fear; yet in the end, the master rebuked him, saying he could have at least invested it.
So what has God already blessed you with that you might be taking for granted? Chances are, there is something you have that you could at least get started with.
The wise believer doesn’t wait for perfection, but gets started with what God has blessed them with, trusting His direction.
