You’ve been there before. Life was going fine, then something went wrong. Maybe you started having car trouble, got sick, or tension increased in a relationship.
Whatever the challenge was, one of the first things you likely wondered was whether God was testing you.
But what if the problem wasn’t God testing you… What if the problem was you?
The Bible says, “People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord” (Proverbs 19:3 NLT).
When we’re blind to the choices that lead to our problems, the only thing left to blame is the supernatural. And when our good choices benefit us, we may forget the part we played and simply call it a blessing from God.
I know, it can be hard to know for sure. With stories like Job, the man who lost almost everything as part of God’s test, we may never be 100% sure.
But here is something wise you can do. When things take a turn for the worse, ask the Holy Spirit to show you whether your own choices played a role.
And if it’s you, you’ll have the knowledge to correct or avoid repeating it.
So remember, the wise believer doesn’t look for someone to blame; they look for something to change.
