Why Many Christians Stay Average

Firstly, you’ve already proven you are different because you are reading this message. But sadly, unlike you (who are making an effort to grow), many Christians don’t.

A lot of them only hear words that can move their lives forward once a week. Still, like the parable of the sower, what they hear falls on the path, never taking root.

Even if you only know a little of the Bible, you’ll know that God wants us to grow. Repeatedly, God’s Word tells us to learn, study, be Christ-like, and more.

One such instance is found in the book of Joshua. God told Joshua what he needed to do to be better than average. Not only that, His Words revealed the simple key that takes a believer to the next level.

He told Joshua:

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful” (Joshua 1:8 NIV).

Growth doesn’t happen by accident. As the verse shows, prosperity and success come from studying and meditating on the right things.

The Word of God primarily, but it doesn’t have to stop there. Content like this, that’s based on God’s Word, expands your perspective.

So, keep consuming wisdom. If there is room, read and listen to even more. Don’t rely on trial and error when there is God’s Word and the advice of countless others.

The wise believer isn’t wise by accident; they become wise through study and meditation.
